The Benefits of Fish oil, Heartburn Treatment
Fish oil, derived from fatty fish like salmon and mackerel, is known to be rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which have been extensively studied for their potential health benefits. When it comes to Heartburn however, the research is limited, and no conclusive evidence exists to support the use of Fish oil as a preventive or therapeutic measure. Heartburn occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, causing a burning sensation, and is usually associated with conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
While omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties and may reduce inflammation in various parts of the body, their effects on Heartburn are still unclear. Some studies suggest that omega-3 supplementation might alleviate symptoms related to GERD, such as reducing esophageal inflammation. However, other research shows contradictory results, with no significant improvement in Heartburn symptoms observed in subjects taking Fish oil supplements.
