We looked into how probiotics, like Saccharomyces boulardii, can help prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) in children. Involving 23 studies with nearly 4,000 participants, our findings indicate a significant benefit from probiotics, with AAD occurring in 8% of the probiotic group versus 19% in the control group.

It appears that probiotics, particularly certain strains, can help keep children's gut health intact during antibiotic treatments. While no serious side effects were recorded, some mild issues like bloating were noted. Overall, moderate evidence supports using these probiotics to ward off AAD.

Probiotic treatment resolved infection
We examined a case involving a 41-year-old man who suffered from cramps, bloating, and watery diarrhea after drinking non-potable water. While initial tests ruled out gluten intolerance and other infectious agents, a deeper analysis eventually identified the presence of Blastocystis hominis. This protozoan is known to be associated with chronic intestinal issues and can be waterborne. Remarkably, treatment with the probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii seemed to effectively resolve the infection. This suggests that Saccharomyces boulardii might offer a beneficial approach for managing similar cases.

Probiotics reduce pediatric AAD risk
We explored how probiotics might help prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) in children. By analyzing 23 studies involving almost 4,000 young participants, we found that probiotics significantly reduced AAD incidence compared to placebo or no treatment.

Specifically, AAD occurred in 8% of children receiving probiotics versus 19% in the control groups. We noted that Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Saccharomyces boulardii were among the most effective strains.

While adverse events were mild and rare, further research is needed regarding other probiotic strains, especially for at-risk children.

This product significantly helped after I took large doses of antibiotics following an episode of diverticulitis, which caused severe bloating and diarrhoea. My doctor recommended this probiotic to restore my gut health, and I felt better within 24 hours. I highly recommend this if you’ve been on antibiotics.

Reduced gas effectively

The best I've used. This is the first probiotic that has actually reduced my gas and bloating, and I’ve tried many. I suspect the yeast-based Saccharomyces boulardii was what I needed, as I hadn’t yet used anything with it. The other ingredients are all excellent, unlike some probiotics that merely list many types, which can be counterproductive. The digestive support blend and turmeric are nice additions not commonly found in most probiotics, along with evidence behind certain benefits like peppermint.

Probiotics significantly reduce bloating
We explored the effectiveness of the probiotic supplement Saccharomyces boulardii in reducing bloating and gastric pain among airline pilots suffering from chronic non-atrophic gastritis.

Over four weeks, participants were divided into groups receiving different doses of the probiotic or undergoing watchful waiting.

The results showed that both probiotic doses significantly improved symptoms compared to the control group, but only the high-dose led to notable changes in certain serum markers.

Overall, this suggests that Saccharomyces boulardii could help ease bloating and gastric discomfort in situations where these issues are common.

In this clinical trial, we evaluated the impact of Saccharomyces boulardii on patients with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) related to systemic sclerosis (SSc).

We examined the effects of S. boulardii alone, with metronidazole, or in combination for two months.

Results showed that both S. boulardii and the combination treatment significantly reduced gastrointestinal symptoms, including bloating, while metronidazole alone had limited success.

Overall, S. boulardii proves beneficial, giving hope to those suffering from related discomfort.

Relief from bloating
I feel better! If you consume it when experiencing severe gas or bloating, you will feel relief. I trust this brand and appreciate its ingredients and quality. Although it's slightly more expensive than other lactic acid bacteria, it is equally effective. I take lactic acid bacteria for constipation, and it appears to aid digestion. The capsules are of average size, virtually odourless, making them easy to swallow. I plan to repurchase once I've finished.

Effective against bloating

This quality probiotic from a reliable company contains Bifidobacterium breve - BR03 and Lactobacillus plantarum - LP01. It aids with constipation, leaky gut, and reduces inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract, while also inhibiting pathogenic E. coli. Combined, these strains improve intestinal transit, alleviate IBS, and diminish gastrointestinal pain, reducing bloating and supporting digestive health. This product, rich in beneficial bacteria and yeast, promotes regular bowel movements and bolsters immune health. The overall composition of the product is excellent, and I highly recommend it.

Bloating reduction through adjuvant therapy
We conducted a thorough evaluation of adding a specific therapy to traditional treatments for a common gastric issue. Our systematic review analyzed data from various studies focusing on treatment outcomes, including the sensitive issue of bloating.

We observed that the supplementation significantly enhances the eradication rate and notably reduces bloating among other adverse effects. This suggests that this adjuvant therapy could indeed offer significant relief to many individuals experiencing bloating during conventional treatments.

Saccharomyces boulardii reduces bloating effects
We evaluated the effects of the probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii on bloating in patients undergoing treatment for H. pylori infection. In a randomized controlled trial, 160 adults were divided into two groups: one received standard antibiotics along with Saccharomyces boulardii, while the other was treated with antibiotics alone.

Although the addition of the probiotic resulted in significantly fewer side effects, including bloating, it did not lead to a notable improvement in eradicating H. pylori. This suggests that while Saccharomyces boulardii may help with discomfort, it doesn't enhance the overall success of H. pylori treatment.
