Lactobacillus acidophilus reduces bloating
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, we investigated the effects of Lactobacillus acidophilus (L-NCFM) and Bifidobacterium lactis (B-LBi07) on bloating in patients with functional bowel disorders. Over 8 weeks, those taking the probiotics reported a significant improvement in abdominal bloating compared to the placebo group at both 4 weeks and 8 weeks.

The results were especially notable in patients with irritable bowel syndrome. This study highlights the potential of specific probiotics in managing bloating symptoms and emphasizes the importance of intestinal bacteria in gut health.

Lactobacillus acidophilus reduces bloating
We examined how Lactobacillus acidophilus can help treat bloating in patients with dyspepsia due to imbalances in gut bacteria. In a study involving 30 participants, symptoms such as pain, pressure, and bloating were self-reported while objective measures like bowel movements and weight changes were also tracked.

Those affected by antibiotic-induced dysbiosis experienced rapid relief within days. Improvements were noted in symptoms of maldigestion over a week, and remarkable results were observed in patients with radiation enterocolitis. Overall, this probiotic showed promise for alleviating digestive discomfort without notable side effects.

Probiotics reduce bloating post-surgery
In this study, we aimed to see how probiotics, specifically Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis, could help manage gastrointestinal symptoms and bloating after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery.

Conducting a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, we enrolled patients who took either the probiotic tablets or placebo for 90 days.

While the probiotics did not change SIBO rates, patients using them reported a significant reduction in bloating. However, they did experience some other discomforts, such as increased abdominal pain and episodes of nausea.

We investigated how a blend of multispecies probiotics, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, affects bloating in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 49 IBS patients were split into two groups, receiving either probiotics or a placebo for four weeks.

Results showed that a higher percentage of patients in the probiotics group experienced relief from bloating and other symptoms compared to the placebo group. This suggests that these probiotics can positively influence gut health.

SCM-III shows promise for bloating
We investigated the use of a novel symbiotic preparation, SCM-III, to alleviate symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), particularly focusing on bloating. In our study with 68 patients, we compared SCM-III to a heat-inactivated version over 12 weeks. Results indicated that over 80% of participants experienced significant improvements in bloating and pain compared to a control group. No major side effects were recorded, suggesting that SCM-III could be a promising option for managing IBS symptoms.

This product wasn't for me; it caused gas and bloating, even after two weeks. I will try a different probiotic. Typically, Now Foods products are good, but this one didn’t agree with me. I wish there was a probiotic available that contained just the probiotic in a capsule without fillers.

Probiotics may alleviate bloating
We evaluated various probiotic strains and mixtures to see how they affect symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), especially focusing on bloating. Our analysis included 81 randomized controlled trials with over 9,200 participants.

While some probiotic combinations showed notable improvements in symptoms like abdominal pain and overall quality of life, only a few specific strains effectively helped with bloating. They provided better results compared to a placebo, but the findings are still preliminary and warrant further research.

Synbiotic improves gut health perception
We set out to understand how a synbiotic supplement, which contains Lactobacillus acidophilus and several other beneficial strains, impacts bloating and overall gastrointestinal comfort. In a well-structured 6-week study with 36 participants, we compared the effects of the supplement against a placebo.

Participants who took the synbiotic reported significant improvements in their digestive health, including reduced symptoms like bloating and flatulence. However, while there were some changes in immune markers, they did not strongly correlate with improvements in bloating. Overall, this supplement seems to enhance self-reported gut health for those facing digestive issues.
