Pectin oligosaccharides inhibit mast cell reactions
We investigated how pectic oligosaccharides (POS), derived through a special enzymatic process, could help ease allergic reactions. By preparing these oligosaccharides under controlled conditions, we found that they inhibited key responses in mast cells, which are crucial players in allergies.

Specifically, POS were effective in reducing the release of histamine and other inflammatory substances from these cells. Most importantly, a concentration of 150 μg/mL significantly alleviated IgE-mediated allergic reactions. This suggests that POS could be a promising option for managing allergies.

We explored how dietary pectins, particularly citrus pectin (CP), affect oral tolerance to allergens in mice. Over two weeks, we administered CP alongside ovalbumin (a common allergen) to assess its impact on immune response.

Surprisingly, we found that CP disrupts the natural tolerance usually created by ovalbumin. Mice treated with CP showed higher levels of certain antibodies, indicating an increased immune response. This suggests that CP enhances the absorption of allergens into the bloodstream while activating immune cells.

Overall, our findings highlight how citrus pectin can modify allergic reactions, but it's essential to note that the treatment does not promote tolerance as expected.

We examined how chia seed protein hydrolysate and apple pomace pectin can replace eggs in mayonnaise.

By preparing different versions of egg-free mayonnaise, we discovered that using these ingredients not only made the mayonnaise stable and creamy, but also increased some physical properties.

However, while T3 (containing less egg) received the best taste scores, the overall sensory experience was still lower compared to traditional mayonnaise. This suggests that these alternatives could be beneficial for those with egg allergies or looking for healthier options, though they may not match the taste of the classic version.

The effect is wonderful, and it dissolves delicately in water. My allergies disappeared, and my intestinal discomfort ceased. I take it 1.5 hours after meals or two capsules at night, and I can mix it with warm water or kefir. My intestines have cleared more rapidly, and I recommend everyone give it a try.

We investigated how dietary fiber pectin influences allergies, using a peach allergy mouse model. Mice were either fed pectin before or after being sensitized to peach extract.

We found that pectin significantly changed the gut microbiota and reduced inflammatory immune responses. Specifically, pectin boosted certain beneficial bacteria while lowering allergenic responses like IgE levels.

Overall, our findings suggest that incorporating pectin into the diet can help lessen food allergy symptoms, making it a promising option for managing allergies.

Pectin shows potential immunostimulant properties
We examined a pectic polysaccharide called bergenan BC, extracted from Siberian tea leaves, to see how it might impact allergies. Over three weeks, mice given a solution of bergenan showed an increased response to delayed-type hypersensitivity, indicating a potential allergy-relief effect.

In lab tests, bergenan also enhanced the immune response by boosting neutrophil uptake and stimulating macrophages to generate oxygen radicals. Importantly, no harmful effects were noted on cell viability, affirming its safety. Overall, bergenan BC demonstrated promising immunostimulating activity, but further research is needed to fully understand its benefits for allergies.

We explored the role of pectin, a type of dietary fiber, in modulating allergies by influencing gut microbiota.

Pectin can enhance the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, leading to the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that support immune regulation.

While we observed promising immunomodulatory effects of pectin on allergies, the detailed mechanisms remain unclear, and more research is needed.

Overall, current findings suggest that while pectin may help, its effectiveness as a treatment for allergies is still not fully understood.
