We explored the effects of myo-inositol (MI) supplementation on obesity in patients diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In this study, 51 newly diagnosed obese patients were randomly assigned to receive either MI or a placebo for eight weeks. Both groups received dietary recommendations during this time.

Our findings showed a notable decrease in weight for those taking MI compared to the placebo. Although both groups experienced significant reductions in obesity-related measures, the differences were only statistically significant for weight.

Interestingly, the study revealed that the MI group also had a greater decrease in their desire for fatty foods. Even when it came to oxidative stress markers like serum nitric oxide (NO), the MI group showed a more pronounced decrease. However, other oxidative stress biomarkers and antioxidant levels did not reveal any significant differences between the two groups by the end of the trial.

We conducted a study to explore how a combination of magnesium biotinate (MgB) and inositol-stabilized arginine silicate (ASI) impacts metabolic dysfunctions linked to obesity. Our experimental design involved 40 rats that were divided into five groups, with one group receiving a standard diet and others fed a high-fat diet. Some groups were supplemented with either MgB, ASI, or both to see how these substances might counteract issues associated with obesity.

Involving 56 participants aged 10 to 18 years, the study aimed to assess the impact of this treatment on insulin resistance, glucose-insulin metabolism, and lipid profiles after three months of supplementation.

Participants were divided into two groups: one received myo-inositol, zinc, and plant-based galactooligosaccharides, while the other received a placebo. Despite our hopes, the results showed that while the treatment improved HDL cholesterol levels, it did not significantly reduce insulin resistance overall. However, we observed that subjects with more severe obesity did experience a greater reduction in fasting insulin and HOMA-IR compared to those in the placebo group, highlighting some potential positive effects for specific populations.

Ultimately, we found that myo-inositol and zinc supplementation may offer some benefits regarding lipid profiles and managing complications of obesity, particularly in children with severe obesity. We recommend further research with a larger sample size and longer duration to confirm these findings and better understand the role of myo-inositol in obesity management.

Myo-inositol shows weight management promise
We aimed to explore how myo-inositol, along with cocoa polyphenols and soy isoflavones, can help manage obesity in menopausal women experiencing metabolic syndrome. In our retrospective study involving 200 menopausal women, participants took one sachet per day of the dietary supplement INOFOLIC NRT for six months.

Results showed promising improvements in both weight and waist circumference, suggesting a decrease in the percentage of overweight and obese women. Initially, 88% were classified as overweight, but this dropped to 51% after supplementation. Additionally, we noticed a reduction in cases of non-insulin dependent diabetes, from 26% to 16%.

While these findings are encouraging and indicate potential benefits of myo-inositol in managing obesity among menopausal women, it's important to remember that the study used a combination of supplements. Therefore, we cannot conclude that inositol alone is solely responsible for these positive outcomes. This calls for additional, controlled clinical trials to better understand the effects of inositol and these other natural compounds on obesity.
