Taurine linked to insomnia reliefEfficacy and associated neurotransmitters of digital cognitive behavior therapy for atopic dermatitis: A comparative effectiveness research.
Study addresses insomnia treatment relevance
We took a closer look at how taurine might affect insomnia in patients suffering from atopic dermatitis (AD). In a study involving 32 patients, those experiencing mild to moderate negative emotions were divided into two groups. One group received standard care, while the other benefited from a combination of mobile app-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and standard care for 12 weeks.
Throughout the study, we noted significant improvements in various symptoms, including skin lesions, itchiness, and importantly, insomnia. The combination treatment group showed particularly remarkable enhancements in their insomnia symptoms compared to those who received standard care alone. After treatment, we observed that taurine levels were increased among those receiving the combination therapy, suggesting a potential link between taurine and improved emotional health.
Our findings indicate that dCBT not only helps patients with AD but may also play an important role in alleviating insomnia. With taurine levels showing a selective increase, we suggest that this may be a promising area for further research, especially in understanding the connections between emotions, neurotransmitters, and insomnia.
