We investigated the impact of glutathione treatment on acne vulgaris. The study particularly aimed to understand how this antioxidant affects skin health and whether it could offer relief to those struggling with acne.

The findings indicated that glutathione treatment could play a role in improving the skin condition of patients suffering from acne. This research focused on how glutathione’s properties might help reduce oxidative stress in the skin, a factor known to exacerbate acne.

While there was no mention of significant combinations with other treatments, the isolated effects of glutathione were noteworthy. Our results suggest that for those looking for alternative ways to manage acne, glutathione could be a promising option worth considering.
We explored the effects of Silybum marianum fruit extract on acne treatment using a topical formulation over 48 weeks in a group of acne patients. The study identified microcomedones, which are early signs of future acne lesions, as a target for prevention.

Our findings revealed that using the extract significantly lowered the microcomedone index in patients, indicating a reduction in acne severity. The improvement in microcomedones closely tied to a decrease in clinical lesions suggests that Silybum marianum may be a promising option for maintaining clearer skin and preventing future breakouts.

Effectiveness of Silybum marianum on acne
We examined the effectiveness and tolerance of a dermocosmetic product containing Silybum marianum fruit extract in treating acne in adolescents and young adults. In an international study with over 4,200 participants aged 12 to 25, the product was used twice daily for 8 to 12 weeks. It was applied alone, after medical therapy, or alongside other treatments.

While the product showed promise in managing acne, its role appears more supportive than curative, helping to reduce reliance on traditional anti-acne medications.

Taking one tablet each night with glutathione and vitamins has truly changed my life. I used to suffer from severe acne, scars, and redness for decades without any dermatologist visits. I am thrilled to feel beautiful with just supplements, avoiding invasive treatments like lasers. The large capsule does not deter me; the positive outcomes are well worth it! My acne scars have faded, my skin tone appears improved, and the overall texture has smoothed.

I had horrible acne in my youth which left me with large pores on my cheeks. After taking these for about two weeks, the pores are nearly gone. People are asking if I am pregnant because I am glowing. My face is more even and smooth. My legs, which had chicken skin, are also improving. I ordered enough for several months; definitely worth a try.

This is my second bottle of 60 tablets. I’ve observed a noticeable fading of age spots and acne scars, along with a whiter complexion. Within 3-4 weeks, I felt a difference. The capsules are a bit large but manageable, and they seem even more effective with vitamin C.

Effective, but limited by other treatments
This year-long study involved 54 teenagers and young adults with mild to moderate facial acne, exploring the effects of silybum marianum in real-life situations.

We found impressive results, with a 45.6% decrease in acne lesions after six months and 59.6% after twelve months. Overall, the treatment improved skin health significantly, even with minimal use of standard acne medications.

However, we should note that the influence of silybum marianum alone is hard to quantify due to the small percentage of other acne treatments utilized during the study.

We investigated the use of a detachable dissolvable microneedle (DDMN) array to deliver bioactive compounds like glutathione and vitamin C directly into the skin. This technique shows promise in effectively embedding these compounds into the epidermis and dermis, which is important for tackling skin issues, including hyperpigmentation often arising from acne.

Our study utilized ex vivo porcine and rat skins to observe how well these compounds diffuse through the skin over time after application. The findings suggest that co-loading glutathione with vitamin C not only stabilizes vitamin C within the microneedles but also potentially enhances the treatment's effectiveness against post-acne hyperpigmentation spots.

However, we must note that the combination of glutathione and vitamin C makes it difficult to isolate the specific effects of glutathione on acne itself. Therefore, while the results are promising for treating skin discoloration, they do not definitively prove glutathione's specific efficacy in managing acne directly.

NAC's potential in acne treatment
We delved into how glutathione, particularly when stimulated by N-acetylcysteine (NAC), can affect acne vulgaris. The study focused on understanding the impact of oxidative stress and inflammation in acne development. With rising antibiotic resistance, the need for alternative treatments like NAC has become more pressing.

Our investigation revealed that NAC boosts glutathione levels, aiding in the detoxification of harmful free radicals in the skin. Increased glutathione can help combat oxidative stress, which is linked to acne. Moreover, NAC appears to suppress the production of inflammatory cytokines that contribute to acne flare-ups.

Notably, research highlighted that NAC has shown antibacterial effects against several bacteria relevant to acne. Through these mechanisms, we observed that NAC could provide benefits not just in treating acne but also in managing its associated complications and comorbidities.

Overall, while our findings point to the potential of NAC as a valuable asset in acne treatment, it's important to note that additional research may be vital to fully understand glutathione's isolated effects on acne.

The only stuff that works for my acne. I noticed better skin within a week, and by the time I finished the bottle, my skin was quite smooth! The tiny bumps were gone, although there was minimal improvement on my back acne. I highly recommend this product; it's the best, and I will continue buying it.

This is my second purchase! I bought it to help clear my skin owing to its skin brightening properties. While it did make me gassy, I noticed significant clarifications in my acne after a month of taking it with probiotics and biotin. The product's quality and benefits are excellent, and I appreciate that it is vegan-friendly. I will definitely buy it again when it restocks!

I bought this in hopes of achieving clear skin like Koreans! I take it along with vitamin C. I take one tablet of this and one vitamin C tablet before bed. The size is slightly large and can get stuck in my throat, but carbonated water helps. It's been half a month, and my acne scars have significantly lightened; I believe they will vanish if I continue taking it, so I'm optimistic!

Since I started taking this alongside liposomal vitamin C at night, my redness and acne scars have noticeably faded! I highly recommend it! I'm impressed by its effect on brightening my skin tone. Although the tablets are large, just one a day suffices, making them easy to take.
We explored the relationship between glutathione, a powerful antioxidant, and acne vulgaris. Our study involved collecting samples from different skin areas of both acne patients and healthy individuals to measure the levels of glutathione in the stratum corneum—the outermost skin layer.

Interestingly, we found that the levels of glutathione were significantly lower in individuals with acne compared to those without. However, when comparing acne-involved lesions to unaffected areas on the same patients, we observed no substantial difference in glutathione levels. This suggests that while glutathione is reduced in acne patients, it may not directly correlate to the presence of acne lesions.

Additionally, in laboratory experiments, we noted that alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH) appeared to reduce the expression of a gene essential for glutathione production. This finding could hint at a complex interplay between these elements in the skin's health, although it doesn’t necessarily imply that boosting glutathione directly improves acne.

In conclusion, our findings indicate a reduction in glutathione may play a role in acne vulgaris development, but the exact impact of glutathione treatment alone on acne remains unclear based on this study.
