We evaluated how nattokinase affects blood pressure in people living with pre-hypertension or stage 1 hypertension. In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 86 participants, we found that those taking nattokinase showed a significant drop in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure after 8 weeks. Specifically, systolic blood pressure decreased by an average of 5.55 mmHg, while diastolic blood pressure fell by 2.84 mmHg. Our results suggest that nattokinase could be a beneficial option in managing hypertension.

Nattokinase benefits high blood pressure
We explored the effectiveness of nattokinase, a fibrinolytic enzyme derived from fermented soybeans, in managing hypertension. This study involved a systematic review of six randomized controlled trials, encompassing 546 participants. Through a robust methodology, including data extraction and risk assessment, we aimed to determine how nattokinase supplementation could support cardiovascular health.

Our findings indicated that nattokinase significantly reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to a placebo. Specifically, we noted a decrease in systolic blood pressure by an average of 3.45 mm Hg and in diastolic blood pressure by 2.32 mm Hg. This suggests that nattokinase could be a beneficial adjunctive therapy for individuals struggling with high blood pressure.

However, it's important to highlight that while nattokinase may support blood pressure management, its effects on cholesterol levels were less encouraging. The study showed that lower doses of nattokinase could negatively impact total cholesterol and have no significant influence on triglyceride levels. Thus, while nattokinase appears promising for hypertension, the relationship between dosage and lipid levels warrants further investigation.

Overall, our research contributes to the understanding of nattokinase's role in hypertension treatment, highlighting its potential while pointing to areas that need more clarity regarding dosage and lipid interactions.

Nattokinase lowers hypertension effectively
We aimed to understand how nattokinase affects hypertension by comparing its efficacy against its non-protease fragments in spontaneously hypertensive rats.

Through a continuous oral administration test, we found that a higher dose of nattokinase significantly lowered systolic and diastolic blood pressure, alongside reducing plasma fibrinogen levels.

Interestingly, while the fragments also reduced blood pressure, they worked differently, lowering angiotensin II levels without affecting fibrinogen. Our findings suggest that nattokinase and its fragments interact with hypertension in distinct ways.

Stabilised pressure

This drug has been a real blessing for my mother, who has a history of hypertension and stroke. Recommended by a naturopath, it effectively thins the blood and reduces the risk of clotting. My mother experienced swift relief—her dizziness, headaches, and tinnitus have disappeared, and her blood pressure has stabilised without fluctuations or crises for a month now. This is fantastic progress for her! I've noticed no side effects, and her overall health and energy levels have significantly improved.

Initially sceptical, I provided these pills to my father, who suffers from hypertension and a rapid heart rate. Although he felt no improvement for the first three weeks, after another week, his blood pressure began to normalise. We realised the pills require some time to take effect. The most significant change is his heart rate, which has reduced significantly, alleviating his shortness of breath. Now, he's completely convinced of the efficacy of this supplement. We've finished the bottle and will be ordering more.

Nattokinase shows anti-hypertensive activity
Our exploration centered on the effectiveness of nattokinase, an enzyme produced by Bacillus subtilis VITMS 2, in managing hypertension. We focused on how this enzyme might help in reducing blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which plays a significant role in regulating blood pressure levels.

We discovered that nattokinase showed promising results in vitro, with a significant ACE inhibitory concentration of 0.06 mg/mL. Moreover, its fibrinolytic activity was impressive, indicating a high potential for tackling blood clotting issues that can arise alongside hypertension. The enzyme was highly stable at elevated temperatures and over varying pH levels, further suggesting its practical use in dietary applications.

Molecular docking studies supported our findings, showing strong binding affinity of nattokinase to the ACE, which aligns with its potential as an anti-hypertensive agent. With a specific activity of 2418.85 U/mg, this enzyme could indeed play a significant role in hypertension management through dietary supplementation or therapeutic use.

Nattokinase's potential for hypertension
We examined the potential benefits of nattokinase in treating hypertension, as this compound has gained attention for its health-promoting properties found in traditional fermented soybean foods. Our review highlighted how nattokinase, alongside its bioactive brothers, might support blood pressure management by inhibiting certain enzymes linked to hypertension.

While evidence suggests that nattokinase can be effective, it’s crucial to note that specific studies may show mixed results when isolated from other treatments. This nuance is important since the full scope of nattokinase's benefits could involve a broader context of dietary and lifestyle factors.

Overall, we found that incorporating nattokinase into a health-conscious diet could be worthwhile for those aiming to manage hypertension more naturally. However, we also recognize that more targeted research is necessary to fully understand its standalone efficacy.
