We aimed to see if D-Mannose plus could help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and discomfort in patients who underwent cystoscopy. In this single-center pilot study, patients were split into two groups: one received D-Mannose plus and the other did not.

Results showed that those taking D-Mannose plus had no positive urine cultures after the procedure, while 18.8% of the control group did. Furthermore, patients in the D-Mannose plus group reported significantly lower pain and urinary symptoms post-cystoscopy.

However, overall quality of life scores didn't differ significantly between the groups.

We investigated the impact of probiotics on the prevalence of candidemia and candiduria in children undergoing treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics. In a careful retrospective study in a pediatric intensive care unit, we compared outcomes before and after introducing a probiotic mix that included Saccharomyces boulardii.

Our findings indicated a significant reduction in both candidemia and candiduria among patients receiving probiotics. Specifically, candidemia rates dropped from 3.7% in the control group to just 1.2%, while candiduria decreased from 22% to 10.7%. Although there was no significant change in urinary tract infections, the results suggest that probiotics could help lower certain fungal infections in pediatric patients on antibiotics.

A fantastic drug for digestive health and restoring microflora. I take it after illness or antibiotic use, and it quickly normalises my digestive tract. I recommend maintaining it in the medicine cabinet for digestive support.

Saccharomyces boulardii directly interacts with microbes, helping eliminate pathogenic microorganisms from the gastrointestinal tract. It mitigates toxin production and restores healthy gut microflora, promoting the growth of beneficial bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. Additionally, it aids in tackling travellers’ diarrhoea by neutralising harmful bacteria like E. coli while enhancing intestinal immunity. For optimal results, this probiotic should be taken between meals.
