Having suffered from insomnia for many years, I decided to try this supplement. I had not heard of 5-HTP before, but it was said that the effects would be felt from about two weeks later. In my case, I realised the effects early on; I slept soundly and began waking up in the morning. My partner, who has been drinking for years due to panic disorder, found that if you do not drink enough water when taking the capsule, it may linger around your throat and chest. Thus, I highly recommend drinking plenty of water.

Ineffective for sleep

Not very effective. This does not help me to sleep whether I take it 30 minutes, one hour, or one and a half hours before my sleep. The closer to my bedtime I take it, the more likely I will taste a bitterness in the back of my throat after lying down for a while. I really wanted it to work.
