5-HTP reduces TSH in hypothyroidism
We aimed to understand how 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) could impact hypothyroidism, particularly regarding thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. In our study, we observed the effects of 5-HTP on eight patients suffering from primary hypothyroidism who were not receiving treatment.

The results were intriguing; we found that 5-HTP significantly reduced TSH levels in these patients. However, it didn't show the same effect in five healthy individuals, indicating that these changes might be specific to those with hypothyroidism.

It's important to note that despite these changes in TSH levels, other thyroid hormones like T4 and T3 remained stable, and there was no increase in prolactin levels in either group. This leads us to suggest that 5-HTP may have an inhibitory effect on TSH regulation, although we couldn't determine its role concerning prolactin. Thus, while we observed a decrease in TSH levels with 5-HTP treatment in hypothyroid patients, the broader implications and benefits are still not fully defined.

5-HTP shows limited benefit
We observed a study focusing on the effects of 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) in rats with hypothyroidism. The research involved male rats that were born to mothers on an iodide-free diet and later treated with methimazole, rendering them hypothyroid.

After the treatment concluded, both euthyroid (normal thyroid function) and hypothyroid rats received an injection of 5-HTP. What we discovered was that the behavioral reactions in hypothyroid rats were significantly milder compared to their euthyroid counterparts. This finding suggests that hypothyroidism may lead to decreased central serotonin function, resulting in reduced serotonergic activity.

While the study provides insight into the behavior of hypothyroid rats in response to 5-HTP, it indicates that treatment might not bring significant improvement in serotonin activity for those with hypothyroidism. Thus, while there is some behavioral impact observed, the extent of benefit from 5-HTP in treating hypothyroidism appears limited.

Doctor's appointment: My endocrinologist prescribed this supplement as part of a regimen to address my hypothyroidism, and after a month of taking it, I feel much better! Though I was informed it might take 4-6 months to notice effects, I regret not visiting the doctor sooner to replenish the deficiency earlier. I struggle with swallowing pills, so I grind the capsules and powders, and this supplement's size and packaging suit me perfectly. The quality is excellent. For the first time in my life, I awaken feeling rested.

Sleep and mood boost
An essential supplement for 'schitovidka': I have a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. I take courses on the advice of my endocrinologist, one each night. My sleep and mood have both improved, along with a reduction in stress. The taste is pleasant, and the size is manageable, making it easy to swallow. I’m pleased with the quality! I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Invaluable supplement
Wonderful! Following the withdrawal from the antidepressant, and dealing with menopause, hypothyroidism, and everything that comes with it, I felt dreadful! I had sleepless nights, and everything irritated and angered me! I began taking the supplement alongside a sedative. Gradually, improvements occurred. My sleep improved significantly, and irritability was noticeably less during the day. I started to regain some self-confidence. The benefits of the supplement are invaluable! My mood is no longer as hopeless as it was before! I trust its quality completely as opposed to pharmaceutical options. I didn’t experience any side effects.

Mood and weight improvement
I took this medication and was pleased! I consumed it before bed for two hours. My positives include an improved mood, slight weight loss (which is very challenging with my hypothyroidism), and a gentler onset of sleep with deeper rest. I used it in conjunction with melatonin. I will definitely buy more!
