Cat's Claw(Uncaria tomentosa) (Bark)
1 g (1,000 mg)

Top Medical Research Studies

We explored the potential of Uncaria tomentosa, commonly known as cat's claw, in managing hypertension during pregnancy. In our study, pregnant and non-pregnant mice were given a hot-water extract of cat's claw called AC-11, followed by an infusion of angiotensin II to increase blood pressure levels.

The results were quite promising. We found that AC-11 significantly lowered blood pressure that was raised by the angiotensin II infusion. Our analysis revealed that AC-11 also decreased certain inflammatory markers and anti-angiogenic factors, specifically sFlt-1 and sEng, which are known contributors to hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.

In addition, when we looked at human cells in the lab, treating them with AC-11 led to a notable reduction in the secretion of these harmful factors. Overall, this suggests that AC-11 from cat's claw may offer a valuable approach to managing pregnancy hypertension, alongside its role in reducing inflammation and helping regulate immune responses.

Effectively lowers blood pressure
Super! I utilise it for treating hypertension. The alkaloid hirsutin is found in cat's claw, serving as a calcium channel blocker for the heart and blood vessels. This blockage promotes the expansion and relaxation of blood vessels, leading to reduced blood pressure. It works effectively, and I really like it.

Excellent! Thanks to the active ingredients, cat's claw influences various body systems. Mitraphylline enhances the immune system, making it more resilient to diseases. Tannins offer hemostatic properties; hence, cat's claw is helpful for burns and small wounds, even when combined with heavy metal salts. The water-soluble bioflavonoids grant it diuretic properties, increasing urinary excretion. Regarding hypertension, this supplement effectively lowers blood pressure. Additionally, cat's claw stimulates digestion, aids liver cleansing, and restores gallbladder function. The antioxidant properties help combat infections, reduce tissue damage, and accelerate recovery from colds. Importantly, its use does not harm intestinal microflora; it may even enhance it. The components successfully purify the blood and lower thrombosis risks. I've just begun using it and hope to see results in a month.
