Effect of a symbiotic gel (Lactobacillus acidophilus + Bifidobacterium lactis + inulin) on presence and severity of gastrointestinal symptoms in hemodialysis patients.
Our research aimed to understand how a specific symbiotic gel, containing Lactobacillus acidophilus, affects gastrointestinal symptoms, including heartburn, in hemodialysis patients.
We conducted a double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial with 42 participants over two months. The group receiving the symbiotic gel reported significant improvements in the frequency and severity of symptoms like heartburn and stomachache compared to the control group.
Overall, the gel appeared safe with no adverse effects noted. More extensive studies are needed, but these findings suggest promising benefits for managing heartburn in dialysis patients.

Probiotics improve GI symptoms post-surgery
Effect of probiotics on postoperative quality of gastric bypass surgeries: a prospective randomized trial.
We examined whether probiotics could ease gastrointestinal (GI) discomforts after gastric bypass surgery. In a double-blind, randomized study, 60 patients were assigned to receive either Bifidobacterium longum, another probiotic, or digestive enzymes. After just two weeks, everyone saw notable improvements in their quality of life. Specifically, symptoms like heartburn, gas, and abdominal bloating lessened significantly. While this is promising, the long-term benefits of probiotics in managing GI episodes post-surgery remain to be fully understood.

Food supplement enhances heartburn relief
Efficacy of a Food Supplement Containing LA14, Peptides, and a Multivitamin Complex in Improving Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease-Related Outcomes and Quality of Life of Subjects Showing Mild-to-Moderate Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.
We evaluated a food supplement that contained the probiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus, along with peptides and multivitamins, to see if it could help relieve heartburn in people with mild-to-moderate gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
In a well-structured, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 56 adults took either the supplement or a placebo for 28 days.
Results showed that those taking the supplement experienced a significant decrease in heartburn frequency and severity, along with a drop in over-the-counter medication use. Overall, participants reported improvements in their quality of life compared to those on placebo.

Stopped daily heartburn—finally! I discovered that acidophilus could help chronic heartburn. Rather than continuing to use daily Pepcid tabs, which I took excessively, I tried these. Within a week, I no longer needed Pepcid at all! I plan to order these regularly, especially since they are cheaper than Pepcid. My digestion is also more regular.

Excellent probiotic! I take one daily to aid digestion, as other medications can upset it, resulting in heartburn. This helps keep my digestion normal. The "pearls" are small and easy to swallow, but I'm sometimes able to push out two accidentally. I highly recommend these for anyone who needs a daily probiotic.

This is the one for me! I was pleased with the results as it helped with regular BMs and significantly reduced gas and bloating. However, I experienced a lingering heartburn sensation. Taking another strain eliminated the heartburn but caused constipation. I returned to this product, which resolved my issues, although recently it hasn’t been as effective. I’ll be looking for alternatives for my heartburn.
