L. reuteri reduces menopause-related bone loss
We investigated the effects of Lactobacillus reuteri on bone health in menopausal mice. Our findings revealed that this probiotic significantly curtails bone loss linked to estrogen deficiency.

Specifically, L. reuteri treatment led to lower levels of bone resorption markers and reduced the factors that promote osteoclast formation, which are responsible for bone deterioration.

These results suggest that L. reuteri not only helps maintain bone density but also positively influences gut health during menopause, showcasing its potential as an accessible method for women to combat post-menopausal bone loss.

Probiotic may stabilize estrogen levels
We examined whether a probiotic containing the strain KABP052 could help stabilize estrogen levels in peri- and postmenopausal women. In a thorough randomized, double-blind study, we compared women taking the probiotic to those given a placebo.

Over 12 weeks, those who received KABP052 showed notably higher estradiol and estrone levels, suggesting that this probiotic can effectively modulate estrogen during menopause. This promising finding opens new avenues for using probiotics to support menopausal health.

We investigated how orally administered probiotics, particularly Lactobacillus rhamnosus, can impact the vaginal flora of postmenopausal women. In a randomized, double-blind study, participants received either probiotic capsules or a placebo for 14 days.

Our findings revealed that 60% of the women taking the probiotics experienced a significant improvement in their vaginal flora, compared to just 16% in the placebo group. This suggests that Lactobacillus rhamnosus may effectively support vaginal health during menopause.

MENOLACTO alleviates menopausal symptoms
This study explored how MENOLACTO, a form of lactobacillus acidophilus, can help women manage menopausal symptoms. We conducted a rigorous, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial with women aged 40 to 60, measuring the effectiveness through various symptom scores and quality of life assessments.

After 12 weeks, we observed a significant decrease in total menopausal symptom scores compared to placebo. Participants also reported improvements across all quality of life metrics. However, we found no notable differences in hormone levels or endometrial thickness between the groups. Overall, MENOLACTO showed promise as a supportive option for alleviating menopause symptoms.

Lactobacillus improves vaginal health
We explored how a combination of ultra-low-dose estriol and lactobacillus in vaginal tablets affects vaginal health in postmenopausal breast cancer survivors taking aromatase inhibitors. Over 28 days, participants showed notable improvements in vaginal microflora and reduced inflammatory markers.

Improvements included higher lactobacillary grades and lower incidences of aerobic vaginitis and leukocytes, which were significant (p < 0.001 for many observations). Although we saw a temporary increase in Candida colonization initially, it quickly returned to baseline. Overall, this combination appears effective and safe for managing severe vaginal issues in this population.

Lactobacillus and estriol resolved vaginal atrophy
We focused on how Lactobacillus acidophilus, combined with ultra-low-dose estriol, affects vaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

In our study, 16 women used a daily vaginal tablet for 28 days and continued with a weekly maintenance schedule.

While estriol levels showed a small, temporary increase, estrogen levels did not rise significantly. Most importantly, vaginal atrophy improved for all participants, and they tolerated the treatment well.

We examined the effectiveness of an ultra-low-dose vaginal estriol combined with Lactobacillus acidophilus to treat vaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women. This well-structured double-blind, randomized study showed that after just 12 days of treatment, those using the combination saw a significant improvement in their Vaginal Maturation Index compared to those on a placebo.

Even in the long term, maintenance therapy proved effective in keeping symptoms at bay. Our findings indicate that this combination therapy can positively impact vaginal health during menopause, enhancing comfort and wellness.
