We explored the potential of iron chelation in combating yeast infections caused by the common fungus Candida, which can lead to serious systemic diseases. Our research involved screening over 3,000 unique compounds from a specialized chemical library to identify those that effectively inhibited the growth of a clinical isolate of Candida.
Through this extensive screening, we discovered 17 promising compounds, with three—CMLD013360, CMLD012661, and CMLD012693—showing particularly strong antifungal effects. These compounds belong to two different chemical families and are believed to combat fungal growth by binding to essential metal nutrients like iron.
Interestingly, when we supplemented the growth media with iron, we observed a recovery in the fungus’s growth. This confirmed that the antifungal activity of our compounds was indeed due to their capacity to chelate iron. Importantly, our findings also revealed that these compounds were effective against a variety of other pathogenic fungi, thus underscoring their potential as new treatments in an era where antifungal resistance is becoming increasingly common.
Overall, this study highlights the critical role that iron chelation can play in tackling yeast infections and opens up exciting avenues for the development of novel antifungal therapies.

MION effectively targets yeast infections
Hyphae-specific genes: Possible molecular targets for magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles alone and combined with visible light in Candida albicans.
We investigated how magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MION) could impact Candida albicans, a common yeast infection that often becomes resistant to standard treatments like fluconazole. Our approach included testing MION alone and in combination with visible light to see how effective this treatment could be.
During our research, we found that MION at a certain concentration (500 μg/mL) was quite effective against various strains of C. albicans. When we combined MION with visible light, the results were even more impressive, showing strong fungicidal effects after 24 and 48 hours. This combination also led to the highest levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS)—chemicals that can damage and kill fungal cells.
We also examined the effects on specific genes known to be important in the virulence of C. albicans, specifically HWP1 and ALS1. Our results indicated that these genes were significantly downregulated, particularly when MION was used alongside visible light. This suggests that MION could serve as a great option for treating infections caused by resistant strains of Candida.
Overall, our findings highlight the potential of using MION, especially when combined with visible light, to effectively target Candida albicans and its associated virulence genes.

Effective ferritin boost

Great product from a reputable brand! I purchased this iron to increase my ferritin levels, which were previously at 18. In a month, I will retest my iron and ferritin levels. It's essential to avoid iron during acute infections and wait for remission before resuming. This drug did not upset my digestion; everything worked perfectly. After taking one capsule, my ferritin levels rose to 43 ng/ml, which I consider a good result, even though I occasionally missed doses. I believe I can reach my optimal ferritin concentration of 100-150 by the end of month two.

The drug genuinely works! The fact that it comes from a leading dietary supplement manufacturer gives me confidence in treating my iron deficiency anaemia, which was diagnosed last summer. My haemoglobin levels were dangerously low. After addressing my habits, I decided not to visit the clinic due to fears of infections there. I switched to this SOLGAR product and took two tablets with meals for three weeks. The results are promising — dark circles under my eyes diminished, and I feel much more cheerful. Apathy and fatigue have gradually lifted, and I’ve regained a sense of vitality in my mornings.

Frequently Asked Questions
A yeast infection, also known as candidiasis, is a common fungal infection caused primarily by an overgrowth of the Candida species, with Candida albicans being the most widespread culprit. These infections typically occur in warm, moist areas of the body, such as the vaginal area, mouth (oral thrush), and skin folds. While yeast is normally present in small amounts in the body, factors like antibiotics, hormonal changes, or a weakened immune system can lead to an imbalance, causing the yeast to multiply excessively and result in uncomfortable symptoms.
In women, a vaginal yeast infection can cause symptoms including itching, burning, and discharge that resembles cottage cheese. It's worth noting that yeast infections are not considered sexually transmitted infections, but sexual activity can sometimes exacerbate the symptoms. Treatment often includes antifungal creams or oral medications, which are usually effective in alleviating the symptoms and clearing the infection. If you suspect you have a yeast infection, it's best to consult with a healthcare provider to confirm the diagnosis and discuss appropriate treatment options.
Iron is a chemical element with the symbol Fe, derived from the Latin word "ferrum." It is a metal that is known for its strength and versatility, making it one of the most widely used materials in construction, manufacturing, and various industrial applications. Iron is the fourth most abundant element in the universe by mass and is primarily obtained through the mining of iron ores, such as hematite and magnetite. Once mined, it undergoes processes like smelting and refining to produce usable forms like cast iron, wrought iron, and steel.
In addition to its industrial uses, iron is also crucial for human health, as it plays a significant role in the production of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells responsible for transporting oxygen throughout the body. A deficiency in iron can lead to anemia, characterized by fatigue and weakened immunity. Overall, iron is a fundamental element that supports modern infrastructure and is vital for maintaining good health.
This supplement is supported by scientific research for yeast infections. One study explored the potential of iron chelation as a treatment for yeast infections caused by the common fungus Candida, identifying 17 promising compounds that inhibit its growth. These compounds work by binding to essential metal nutrients like iron, and the study emphasizes their effectiveness in combating resistances seen in antifungal treatments [1].
Additionally, another research examined the use of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MION) against Candida albicans. The findings revealed that MION, especially when combined with visible light, demonstrated strong fungicidal effects and downregulated virulence-related genes in C. albicans. This suggests that MION could be an innovative treatment option for yeast infections that have shown resistance to standard therapies [2]. Collectively, these studies provide a scientific foundation for exploring new avenues in treating yeast infections.
Users have reported significant improvements in their symptoms after taking this iron supplement, particularly in relation to energy levels and overall well-being. One user noted that their hemoglobin levels went up immediately, stating they felt more energetic and experienced less lethargy after restoring their ferritin levels with this product Read Review. Another reviewer saw a remarkable rise in their ferritin levels after just one month, indicating a promising trend towards reaching optimal levels Read Review.
Additionally, users have shared anecdotal experiences of improvements in symptoms associated with iron deficiency anemia. For example, one customer observed that dark circles under their eyes diminished, and they regained a sense of vitality Read Review. Another mentioned feeling a notable health improvement within just two weeks of usage, underscoring the product's efficacy Read Review. It’s essential to remember that individual results can vary, and while many users report positive experiences, others may not achieve the same outcomes.
Based on user reviews, it seems that there is a consensus around the effective dosing of iron supplements for treating yeast infections and related issues. Many users recommend taking one capsule daily with meals, as this dosage has been associated with positive outcomes such as increased ferritin and hemoglobin levels without causing digestive discomfort. For instance, one user noted that their ferritin levels improved significantly after consistently taking one capsule daily, reporting a rise from 18 to 43 ng/ml in just one month, despite occasionally missing doses Read Review.
Additionally, multiple users highlighted the efficacy of the chelated form of iron, specifically bisglycinate, in their experiences. They appreciated that this form of iron is highly bioavailable and often free of common side effects like constipation Read Review. Overall, while the exact optimal dosage can vary between individuals based on their specific health needs, taking one capsule of a reputable iron supplement daily seems to be a widely accepted practice among users for addressing iron deficiency related to yeast infections.
