Barbara D. Fontana holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Centro Universitário Franciscano and a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences: Toxicological Biochemistry from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). She conducted research on the neurobehavioral effects of taurine in models of ethanol exposure and seizure crisis in zebrafish at the Experimental Neuropsychobiology Laboratory - UFSM. During her PhD at the University of Portsmouth, she researched the function of the latrophilin 3.1 gene in ADHD in zebrafish. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Wayne State University, researching the role of genetics and sex in behavioral differences using zebrafish. Currently, she is conducting postdoctoral research at the lab of Prof. Dr. Denis Broock Rosemberg.
