This needs a little backstory:
I have Autism and I'll be 44 years old in April, and my diet isn't nutritious. It's basically food that I will eat, and that's about it. It contains SOME nutrients, that's for sure, but not enough of anything to prevent deficiencies with the possible exception of some minerals, specifically calcium and potassium.
In 2010, I began taking Organic India's Gotu Kola, and shortly after that I added their Tulsi - Holy Basil. Then very shortly after that I added all 3 of the oils made by Green Pasture (the Fermented Cod Liver Oil, the Fermented Skate Liver Oil and the Concentrated Butter Oil), but today I keep it simpler by using the Blend and the Fermented Skate Liver Oil.
So, I insist on nothing but the best.
Over the years, I added more Organic India herbs (listed in no particular order):
Joy!
Turmeric Formula
Energy Restore
Triphala
Amla
A few years ago, I added L-Theanine and Astragalus from Svasthya Body & Mind after discovering their liquid melatonin. I was taking dry tablets of melatonin for years prior to that. The L-Theanine and Astragalus are fantastic.
Over the past year, I got into CBD oil and high-phenolic extra virgin olive oil, which stepped up my supplement game tremendously. I actually thought my array of supplements was complete at this point.
However, from 2015 until about the middle of 2020, I was taking 5,000 mcg of B12 methylcobalamin, 1000 mcg of Folate (as Metafolin), and 100 mg of B6 (as Pyridoxal 5'-Phosphate) in addition to all of this and I liked it but I wasn't exactly pumped up about it. I knew I needed it because I have Autism and that was it. To me it was mostly just peace of mind, but for some reason in the middle of 2020 I just stopped taking these B vitamins.
A month ago I began thinking about the same B12 methylcobalamin I used to take for no apparent reason. I couldn't figure out what made me think of it. I tried to stop thinking about it but I couldn't, so I eventually gave in and ordered some and took one as soon as it was delivered, and made me feel awesome. It was far better than I remember it being. I even asked the company (Sundown) if they changed something, but nothing has changed whatsoever. My guess is it's either the CBD oil or the high-phenolic olive oil or the additional Organic India herbs, or the Astragalus or the L-Theanine or somehow some combination of these things... I have no idea.
Anyway, shortly after taking the B12 methylcobalamin again for the first time in 2.5 years, I remembered it's important to take Folate and B6 with B12 supplements, so I ordered a 400 mcg Folate (as Quatrefolic) and a 25mg Pyridoxal 5'-Phosphate and that took me up to an even higher level of feeling good. I was floored. This time around, these B vitamins were a huge pick-me-up! I was feeling GREAT.
I then remembered it's important to get Riboflavin and Thiamine with these as well which I don't get much of in my diet (just like all of the B vitamins). So then the wheels started turning in my head and I decided I should look for a good B complex! Now keep in mind, I'm still talking about the middle of January here, so this all happened over the span of about a week and a half. Anyway, I found and tried B Complex Plus by Seeking Health, and it made me feel even better! So then I thought I was all done upping my supplement game. I'd look at my new bottles of B vitamins every day beaming like 'Yep, I did good. I love this stuff!!!" Yeah, I was still taking the Folate and P-5-P as well. I figure with Autism I probably should and it was working extremely well.
(I almost forgot: I began taking Magnesium Malate powder from Seeking Health at around this time as well due to liking their P-5-P)
Then out of curiosity that seemingly came out of nowhere, I did research on what supplements I can take to treat Autism, and one of them is Zinc. Everything else on the list is pretty much covered for me. So I went looking for a zinc supplement and I found Vitamin Code Zinc and I've always been curious about Vitamin Code supplements, so I figured I may as well give it a try. It looks awesome, and it is! I loved it so much that I became very curious about what Vitamin Code Raw B Complex is like. So I ordered it to see how it compares to Seeking Health B Complex Plus. I had just barely "dented" the contents of the Seeking Health B Complex Plus too. lol That's how excited I got about Vitamin Code.
The verdict? I quit taking Seeking Health B Complex Plus immediately! So now I call the Vitamin Code Zinc "my gateway supplement to the rest of the Vitamin Code lineup" because WOW. This stuff is freakin' awesome. Did you look at the label yet? Did you study up on how they make (or "grow") the Vitamin Code supplements? You're certainly free to shop around, but I think nothing comes remotely close to being this good. Sure it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. Do you want to get junk and other unnecessary stuff into your body just to end up with isolated nutrients that don't come with any of their natural nutrient co-factors? Or do you want Vitamin Code
