We embarked on a study to find out how dietary eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) could help children suffering from atopic dermatitis, a common form of eczema. In a randomized triple-blind clinical trial, 48 children with this condition were divided into two groups—one received 250 mg of EPA twice daily, while the other received a placebo for four weeks.

Our observations showed noticeable improvements in those who took EPA. After just two weeks, participants in the EPA group reported a reduction in their SCORAD scores, which are used to measure the severity of atopic dermatitis. The scores went down significantly compared to the placebo group. After four weeks, the number of children needing corticosteroids to manage their symptoms was also lower in the EPA group.

Despite these positive results, both groups reported few adverse effects, indicating that EPA supplementation is generally well-received. Overall, we conclude that adding EPA to the diet may be an effective and safe strategy for reducing eczema severity in children.

I didn't realise just HOW good this is! I usually don't write reviews, but I had to for this. I originally bought this product for my pregnancy after thorough research. While I expected benefits for myself and my baby, after 2-3 weeks, the severe eczema on my face and neck disappeared completely. My skin became clear, smooth, and hydrated, a look I hadn't seen for years! I struggled with eczema for five years, trying an $180 cream that eventually stopped working. I discovered that fish oil is significantly more effective on eczema than any prescription cream. This was initially for my pregnancy, but I intend to use it for life!

We discovered that a diet enriched with omega-3 fatty acids can effectively reduce symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis (AC) in mice. This reduction occurred without influencing the typical immune responses usually associated with allergies. Instead, omega-3s worked by changing the lipid molecules linked to inflammation.

Notably, these fatty acids completely suppressed itching near the eyes and significantly decreased the presence of eosinophils, cells commonly involved in allergic reactions. However, total serum IgE levels and T2 cytokine expression remained unchanged, suggesting that omega-3s tackle AC symptoms in a unique way.

We focused on how Resolvin D1 (RvD1), a pro-resolving lipid, impacts systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Our study measured RvD1 levels and T follicular helper (Tfh) cell counts in SLE patients versus healthy individuals.

We found that higher RvD1 levels correlated with lower disease activity and fewer Tfh cells. RvD1 was effective in reducing Tfh cell activity in a mouse model and inhibited Tfh differentiation in lab tests.

Overall, RvD1 appears to play a significant role in managing SLE by suppressing Tfh cells and influencing immune responses.

This product is my favourite so far. With two cans and following the instructions to take 2 capsules daily, it lasts for exactly two months, making it quite affordable. I experienced a slight burp, but it was citrus rather than the fishy taste common with many others, which is definitely a plus. After taking it, I noticed that my quality of life improved, with my hair and nails getting better. Following covid, I had a slight depression and a depressed state, but this omega resolved those issues effectively. The capsules are large, straw-yellow, and easy to swallow.

Thanks to Nordic Naturals for such a fantastic product. This fish oil is in Triglyceride Form, which my body quickly accepts. Other brands mostly use the Ethyl Ester form, which takes longer to convert and can waste some of the omega-3 fatty acids. The TG form helps to lower bad cholesterol levels effectively without wasting nutrients, making it worthwhile despite the slightly higher price. We investigated the impact of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) on hypertension, a condition characterized by elevated blood pressure that can lead to serious health issues. The study focused on a special compound called 5,6-diHETE lactone (EPA-L), derived from EPA, which we observed to promote better blood vessel function. This compound was tested on hypertensive rats and showed a significant reduction in blood pressure.

Interestingly, we found that the way EPA-L works isn’t through increasing levels of nitric oxide like some may expect. Instead, we discovered that it triggers a unique signaling pathway involving G-protein-coupled receptors. This pathway activates key cellular processes in the endothelial cells lining our blood vessels, allowing them to relax and dilate, thereby contributing to lower blood pressure. In vitro experiments on human endothelial cells confirmed these findings, providing further evidence for the effectiveness of EPA-L.

Overall, our research positions EPA-L as a promising metabolite from eicosapentaenoic acid, demonstrating potential benefits in managing hypertension and promoting vascular health.

We conducted a double-blind randomized controlled trial to understand how prenatal supplementation of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) might influence infant health, particularly concerning the common cold. Pregnant women were given either a daily dose of 400 mg of DHA or a placebo starting at 18 to 22 weeks of gestation until childbirth.

Caregivers then reported on their infants’ health at 1, 3, and 6 months, sharing details about common illness symptoms. We found that DHA supplementation appeared to reduce the number of colds at one month and also seemed to lessen the duration of various cold symptoms in infants. Specifically, infants in the DHA group experienced fewer cold symptoms and had shorter durations of cough and wheezing.

While the overall occurrence of specific illness symptoms was similar between the DHA and placebo groups, DHA did bring about noteworthy benefits. At 1 month, infants in the DHA group had a 26% shorter duration of cough and 30% shorter wheezing; however, they experienced a longer duration of rash.

Furthermore, by the time the infants reached 3 months, those whose mothers took DHA were ill for 14% less time overall. At 6 months, the DHA group showed significantly reduced durations of several illness indicators, although they did experience longer episodes of vomiting.

This study suggests that prenatal DHA not only seems to impact the occurrence of colds in children but may also play a role in the duration of symptoms over the first half-year of life.

We examined the relationship between docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and osteoporosis using a method called 2-sample Mendelian randomization. This approach allowed us to investigate if higher levels of DHA could be a risk factor for osteoporosis.

Our findings revealed a causal tie: increased blood levels of DHA were indeed linked to a higher risk of developing osteoporosis. Specifically, for each standard deviation increase in DHA levels, the risk for osteoporosis rose by nearly 10%. We found this connection to be statistically significant, with a P-value of 0.033.

However, it's important to point out that the genetic correlation between DHA and osteoporosis was weak, suggesting that this relationship might not be heavily influenced by our genes. While these results indicate that DHA levels are a risk factor for osteoporosis, the underlying mechanisms are still unclear, highlighting the need for further research in this area.

We explored how eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) might help in treating intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), a major contributor to back pain. Research highlights that this condition often involves endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and breakdown of the extracellular matrix (ECM), key processes that worsen IDD. Our investigation demonstrated that EPA can promote autophagy, a process that helps cells clean up and maintain balance within the ECM.

Through our experiments, we treated nucleus pulposus cells—cells in the discs that often suffer from degeneration—with EPA. We observed that EPA not only boosted autophagy but also suppressed the harmful effects of ER stress, reducing cell death and limiting ECM degradation. Additionally, we utilized a rat model of IDD to see if these protective effects translated into a real-world setting. The findings indicated that EPA improved the health of the discs and effectively slowed down the progression of IDD in these rats.

In summary, this research highlights the potential of EPA as a therapeutic option for managing back pain related to disc degeneration. Our results suggest that EPA could play an important role in supporting the health of intervertebral discs and mitigating some of the common issues associated with chronic back pain.

We examined the effects of a 6-month supplementation of omega 3 and 6, along with antioxidants, on women's hair loss. In this randomized study involving 120 healthy participants, improvements in hair density were objectively measured through photographs.

The results showed significant reductions in hair loss, with 89.9% of women reporting decreased loss and improved hair thickness and density. This suggests omega 3 and 6 can be effective allies against hair loss in women, as confirmed by both objective measurements and personal experiences.

We conducted a comprehensive trial to understand how different types of omega-3 fatty acids affect cholesterol levels and inflammation in adults struggling with high cholesterol.

Over 12 weeks, participants took various doses of omega-3s, including EPA and DHA, revealing notable benefits. Those receiving higher doses of EPA and DHA saw their triglycerides drop significantly—by up to 15.78%—compared to controls.

Interestingly, ALA supplementation did not lead to improvements in cholesterol or inflammation status, highlighting the superior role of EPA and DHA in managing these health issues.

Choosing Omega-3 was important for me. Key factors include the composition of EPA and DHA, the source of ingredients, and the form of absorption. This product meets all safety standards and is beneficial, although it’s not cheap. High-quality products usually come with a higher price.

My husband used to suffer from severe leg cramps which caused him considerable pain. Following a nutritionist's advice, he began taking Nordic Omega Fish Oil—three capsules daily. Remarkably, his cramps vanished within a week. I also decided to take one capsule daily and noticed relief from my painful leg cramps. I highly recommend this product.

We examined the effects of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) on episodic migraine patients through a 12-week randomized double-blind trial. Seventy participants were divided into two groups, one receiving EPA and the other a placebo.

Those taking the EPA experienced significant decreases in migraine frequency, medication use, headache severity, and improvements in overall quality of life.

Notably, women benefitted particularly from this treatment. Overall, high-dose EPA showed promise as an effective preventive option for episodic migraines, with no major side effects observed.

Best Omega-3s I've taken for years. The eye strain headaches I used to experience have vanished, and my dry skin rashes have significantly improved. My eye doctor has even noted that my eyes are well lubricated for my age (60 years). If I could only choose one supplement, this would be it, although Cherry Extract capsules come a close second.

We aimed to see how omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil could ease nausea and other symptoms in patients with advanced lung cancer suffering from Systemic Immune-Metabolic Syndrome (SIMS). The study involved a small group of patients divided into treatment groups, some receiving fish oil and others a combination of fish oil with celecoxib.

After six weeks, we noted improvements in appetite, fatigue, and lower inflammation markers in both fish oil groups. Interestingly, those who received fish oil alongside celecoxib showed even greater benefits in weight gain and muscle strength. These findings suggest that fish oil may help manage certain symptoms associated with nausea but not specifically reduce it alone.

The best omega! The pure composition and pleasant taste really stand out. The capsules are large but easily swallowed, with no unpleasant belching and no nausea, which I often experienced with other omega brands. The quality of my skin has improved significantly, and the jars last for two months.

We investigated the role of resolvin D1 (RvD1) in protecting esophageal epithelial cells from damage caused by acid reflux. Through exposure tests, we found that RvD1 could effectively block oxidative stress and DNA damage linked to acid exposure.

Notably, RvD1 not only reduced harmful reactive oxygen species but also enhanced the cell's ability to repair DNA damage, signaling a promising potential for treatment in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease. However, we need more studies to confirm its benefits in clinical settings.

No reflux! I love the quality of the brand, and the fishy flavour doesn’t constantly repeat itself, which is great.
