L-lysine shows anxiety-reducing effectsAnxiolytic, anti-nociceptive and body weight reducing effects of L-lysine in rats: Relationship with brain serotonin an In-Vivo and In-Silico study.

We explored how L-lysine, an essential amino acid, impacts anxiety and body weight management in rats. During our study, we treated the animals with doses of L-lysine for 20 days and then assessed their behavior. Interestingly, we noted that L-lysine had a significant anxiolytic effect, meaning it helped reduce anxiety-like behaviors in the rats.
While the treatment did not impact their food intake, we observed a reduction in body weight. Measurements showed that after repeated L-lysine treatment, levels of serotonin in key brain areas increased, which is often associated with improved mood and reduced anxiety. We also found that a metabolite of serotonin decreased, suggesting that L-lysine might help in preventing the breakdown of serotonin, thus supporting its uplifting effects on mood.
The in-silico analysis reinforced our findings, indicating that L-lysine has a strong connection with monoamine oxidases—enzymes involved in serotonin degradation. These insights suggest that L-lysine may inhibit the breakdown of serotonin, contributing to its calming effects. Overall, our study indicates that L-lysine holds promise as a natural anxiolytic agent and might aid in body weight reduction through its influence on serotonin levels.

I take 1 tablet three times a day for three months; during herpes flare-ups, I take 2-3 capsules at once. L-lysine is essential for collagen production and effectively inhibits the herpes virus, while also reducing anxiety and cortisol levels.
