Doctor's Best, High Absorption Magnesium, 200 mg, 120 Tablets, (100 mg per Tablet) | | |
Magnesium may ease hot flashesA pilot phase II trial of magnesium supplements to reduce menopausal hot flashes in breast cancer patients. We set out to explore whether magnesium could alleviate the uncomfortable hot flashes experienced by breast cancer patients. In our pilot study, we enrolled women who reported having at least 14 hot flashes a week and administered magnesium oxide. The dosage started at 400 mg for four weeks, and we allowed it to escalate to 800 mg if necessary.
Among the 29 women who joined, 25 completed the treatment, with an average age of 53.5 years. We found that the frequency of hot flashes decreased significantly, dropping from an average of 52.2 per week to 27.7, which is a 41.4% reduction. The overall hot flash score, which combines frequency and severity, also showed improvement, reducing by over 50%. More than half of the participants reported that their hot flashes had decreased by more than 50%, and nearly three-quarters experienced at least a 25% reduction.
Side effects were minimal, with only a couple of women discontinuing the treatment due to headache and nausea. Overall, compliance was excellent, and many participants chose to continue taking magnesium even after the study ended. As such, the results suggest that oral magnesium could be a promising option for managing hot flashes, encouraging further research through a randomized placebo-controlled trial. Reduces hot flashes Most Useful Review 2 people found this helpful I bought this for my mother during her menopause. It’s a good magnesium supplement! It alleviates frequent hot flashes and normalises mood, contributing positively to her overall sleep and wellbeing! |

Vitamin E reduces hot flashesCurcumin and vitamin E improve hot flashes, lipid profile, and fasting blood glucose without any detrimental effect on the liver and renal function in postmenopausal women: A triple-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial. We conducted a study with eighty-four postmenopausal women to see how vitamin E affects hot flashes, among other health markers. The participants were divided into three groups and received either Vitamin E, Curcumin, or a placebo for eight weeks.
Our findings revealed that vitamin E significantly reduced the frequency of hot flashes by nearly one-third compared to those taking the placebo. This reduction was accompanied by improvements in several health indicators, including lower serum triglyceride levels and enhanced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
Furthermore, vitamin E also showed positive effects on liver health markers. Overall, it appears that vitamin E is effective not only in alleviating hot flashes but also in improving some aspects of the lipid profile in postmenopausal women, without adverse effects on liver or kidney function. Symptoms alleviated Most Useful Review 195 people found this helpful I purchased selenium from iHerb based on a friend's recommendation due to the high levels of healthy minerals found in centenarians, especially selenium.
