In a double-blind, randomized controlled trial involving drug-free participants, we found that those taking probiotics along with sertraline experienced a notable decrease in anxiety compared to those on sertraline alone.

However, the probiotics did not show a significant impact on improving overall quality of life. While there were encouraging results on anxiety scores, the limited effect on quality of life suggests more research is needed to clarify these findings.

Probiotics did not significantly affect anxiety
We looked into how combining caloric restriction with probiotics affects anxiety in adult men facing obesity. In a well-structured, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, participants followed a 12-week regimen of caloric restriction while taking a specific blend of probiotics.

While we found that anxiety and depressive symptoms improved within the group taking probiotics, there was no significant difference when compared to those on a placebo. This suggests that further research is necessary to fully understand the relationship between probiotics and anxiety in this context.
