Probiotics improve constipation symptoms
We conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 92 children aged 4 to 12 with functional constipation. Over four weeks, we provided one group with a probiotic chewable tablet containing specific strains and compared their experiences to a placebo group.

The findings were promising; the probiotic group reported a significant improvement in stool frequency and a decrease in hard defecation. Specifically, hard stools decreased from 43% to 14%, while normal defecation increased from 56% to 80%. This study highlights the potential of probiotics as a valuable option for managing constipation in children.

Synbiotics improve constipation symptoms
We conducted a double-blinded, randomized controlled trial to explore the effects of synbiotics on constipation among chronic haemodialysis patients. While our study found that the synbiotic treatment did not significantly reduce indoxyl sulphate toxin levels, it notably improved constipation symptoms and the overall quality of life related to constipation.

This suggests that Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum may be beneficial for enhancing digestive comfort in individuals facing these challenges, even if they don't directly affect certain toxic levels in the body.

Probiotics improved bowel function post-surgery
We evaluated how taking probiotics, specifically Lactobacillus acidophilus, could help improve bowel function and quality of life for patients after colorectal cancer surgery.

Using questionnaires sent to 193 patients, we found that those who took probiotics for three months reported better defecation frequency and less discomfort compared to those who did not.

Notably, all patients, regardless of their type of surgery, saw improvements in their bowel function and overall quality of life after the treatment.

Amazing is truly the right name for this product! I went vegan in June 2018 and faced constipation and low energy levels. I eventually gained control over my constipation and felt better than when eating meat, although I still craved caffeine. After trying Amazing Grass, I found I enjoyed the clean energy it provided, and it has become part of my daily routine, significantly aiding my bowel regulation.

For decades, my constipation issue has been resolved. This product, which I’ve repurchased multiple times, has made it possible for me to have daily bowel movements rather than every few days. The taste is also the most palatable among green powders, lacking the grassy smell of others.

Lactobacillus improves IBS-C symptoms
We investigated how a cultured milk drink containing Lactobacillus acidophilus affects symptoms of constipation in individuals with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C). Over 30 days, participants consumed the drink daily.

At the end of the study, an impressive 97.4% of IBS-C participants reported improvement in their constipation-related symptoms. We also noticed reductions in intestinal transit time and pro-inflammatory cytokines linked to IBS. Overall, this suggests that including this cultured milk drink may be a beneficial addition to IBS-C treatment plans.

We evaluated how lactobacillus acidophilus, both alone and in a mix with other bacteria, might relieve constipation caused by loperamide in rats. Over 14 days, we noticed that the groups receiving probiotics had significantly heavier and wetter stools compared to control animals.

Notably, the CKDBP group, a blend of multiple bacteria, showed the greatest improvement in intestinal transit. Measures like mucosal length and mucus secretion were also significantly enhanced in all probiotic-treated groups, highlighting their potential to alleviate constipation symptoms effectively.

Probiotics ease constipation in patients
We investigated whether probiotics could ease complications like constipation in thyroid cancer patients undergoing thyroid hormone withdrawal. Fifty patients were randomly assigned to either probiotics or placebo during their treatment. The results showed that probiotics significantly reduced constipation alongside other symptoms, suggesting a positive impact on the gut and oral microbiota.

This improvement might be linked to the restoration of microbial diversity in these patients, highlighting the potential benefits of probiotics in managing constipation and other complications after thyroid surgery.

Excellent! The powder is slightly gritty but tastes delightful, so I mix it with water every morning. By the third day of use, I felt invigorated. Previously, I had to take magnesium for constipation, but with this, I haven’t felt as sluggish. I hope it becomes slightly more affordable!

This study highlights the potential of probiotics as a valuable option for managing constipation in children.
We explored the impact of multistrain probiotics, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, on functional constipation in elderly individuals living in a nursing home. In a controlled study with 60 participants, those receiving the probiotic mixture for 12 weeks showed a slight increase in stool frequency compared to the placebo group.

While the improvement was not significant overall, it became notable by the 71st day when not considering laxative use. This suggests that lactobacillus treatment could help constipation in seniors, although the effects may vary.
We evaluated the impact of two probiotic formulations on functional constipation in adults. This study involved 30 days of daily consumption of oral sachets containing various strains of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium.

While participants experienced improvements in stool frequency and quality, the differences between the treatment groups were not statistically significant. An isolated case of abdominal pain was the only adverse event noted. Overall, these probiotics showed potential but did not produce noteworthy differences across groups.

Probiotic yogurt improves constipation
We investigated how a specific yogurt containing polydextrose, Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM®, and Bifidobacterium lactis HN019 impacts constipation. Patients were split into two groups: one consumed standard yogurt, while the other had the enriched version for 14 days.

At the end of the study, those who consumed the probiotic yogurt experienced a significant reduction in colonic transit time, indicating faster movement through the intestines compared to the control group. This suggests that this yogurt may be a helpful option for individuals struggling with constipation.

Probiotics and fiber improve IBS
We evaluated how adding dietary fiber to multistrain probiotics affects constipation in IBS. In our study, 142 participants were split into two groups: one received probiotic milk only, and the other had the same milk infused with dietary fiber for four weeks.

Both groups reported improvements, but those who consumed the fiber-enriched milk showed better results in defecation frequency and straining. This suggests that dietary fiber enhances the constipation relief provided by probiotics, especially for those with constipation-predominant IBS.
