We explored how the treatment with JB-1—a type of probiotic bacteria—affects anxiety during chronic stress in rats. In our study, half of the twenty rats received JB-1 while the other half got a placebo over eight weeks of stress exposure.

The results were telling! Rats on JB-1 showed less anxiety and were more willing to explore their environment compared to the placebo group, which largely avoided exploration. Additionally, measurements of brain metabolites indicated that JB-1 helped maintain stability in brain chemistry, even in stressful conditions.

This suggests that lactobacillus rhamnosus might play a beneficial role in reducing anxiety during prolonged stress.

We examined how colonizing newborn mice with probiotics, specifically Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG), influences anxiety in adulthood. By administering live LGG during pregnancy and early life, we observed significant changes to the gut microbiome and protective effects on the intestinal barrier. Notably, the adult mice with LGG colonization showed reduced anxiety-like behaviors in tests designed to measure stress responses. The Best for anxiety and gut health! I usually experience anxiety, but I've noticed a shift in my mood and feel more relaxed and balanced. I previously used another brand of probiotics but discovered this one through an influencer on Instagram. I will definitely continue purchasing from this brand. The inclusion of ashwagandha makes it a perfect combination for emotional well-being and gut health! I take 2 pills on an empty stomach each morning and drink plenty of water, starting my day with a smoothie. You can take it with or without food, but I prefer on an empty stomach for better gut absorption. Please like if you found this helpful!

Improvement in mental health via probiotics
We explored how a novel multi-strain E3 probiotic formula could impact anxiety and other mental health symptoms in a group of 68 individuals with sleep disturbances and mood issues.

Over an 8-week period, participants experienced significant improvements in sleep quality, depressive symptoms, and anxiety levels.

Remarkably, these changes were linked to shifts in their gut microbiome, suggesting that the health of our gut might play a powerful role in our overall mental well-being.

Probiotics reduced anxiety, depression
This double-blind trial explored how synbiotic and probiotic supplements affect mental health and anemia in hemodialysis patients.

With 75 participants, those receiving synbiotics and probiotics showed a notable decrease in anxiety and depression scores after 12 weeks, compared to a placebo group.

However, there was no meaningful improvement in quality of life reported. Interestingly, the treated group also experienced significant increases in hemoglobin levels, which is beneficial.
We examined the role of probiotics, particularly lactobacillus acidophilus, in alleviating anxiety symptoms among patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). In a double-blind, randomized controlled trial involving drug-free participants, we found that those taking probiotics along with sertraline experienced a notable decrease in anxiety compared to those on sertraline alone.

However, the probiotics did not show a significant impact on improving overall quality of life. While there were encouraging results on anxiety scores, the limited effect on quality of life suggests more research is needed to clarify these findings.

Probiotics did not significantly affect anxiety
We looked into how combining caloric restriction with probiotics affects anxiety in adult men facing obesity. In a well-structured, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, participants followed a 12-week regimen of caloric restriction while taking a specific blend of probiotics.

While we found that anxiety and depressive symptoms improved within the group taking probiotics, there was no significant difference when compared to those on a placebo. This suggests that further research is necessary to fully understand the relationship between probiotics and anxiety in this context.
