Brewer's yeast aids constipation relief
We investigated the effects of brewer's yeast cell wall (BYC) on constipation in male rats induced by a medication called loperamide. In our findings, rats that received BYC showed significantly better defecation compared to those on a non-fiber diet or a cellulose-based diet. This improvement also included higher fecal water content and volatile fatty acids in the cecal contents. These results suggest that BYC can be beneficial in alleviating constipation by enhancing fermentation and water retention in the digestive system.

EpiCor modulates gut microbiome effects
We explored how EpiCor fermentate, derived from yeast, could help alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort and constipation. Through a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with 80 participants, we tracked changes in symptoms and bowel movements over six weeks.

Results showed that while EpiCor did modify the gut microbiome, any improvements in constipation symptoms were modest. Interestingly, the treatment seemed to encourage a quicker transit time for digestion, possibly changing the balance of gut bacteria. Overall, EpiCor may have some benefits, but its effects were not as significant as anticipated.

We evaluated the effectiveness of probiotics, including strains like Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Saccharomyces boulardii, in preventing antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) in children. Our review covered 23 diverse studies involving nearly 4,000 young participants.

The results were promising: probiotics reduced the incidence of AAD from 19% to 8%. While results were generally optimistic, with no serious side effects reported, moderate evidence suggests further studies are needed before fully endorsing probiotics for all pediatric patients.

I bought it for stomach upsets. When my children had diarrhoea, I opened the capsule and gave it in powder form. Its effect was more favourable than that of smecta, which often causes constipation. This worked well for us. I store it in the fridge.

Effective IBS symptom relief observed
We explored the effects of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on patients suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). In a four-week study with thirty participants, we found that daily 500 mg doses of this yeast led to significant reductions in abdominal pain and improvements in overall quality of life.

Results showed pain scores decreased dramatically, and all quality of life measures improved after treatment. This suggests that Saccharomyces cerevisiae could be an effective option for those looking to alleviate IBS symptoms.

We examined how TRANSITECH, a food supplement made from plants and lactic ferments, affects constipation in healthy adults. Over a 10-day period, participants took either TRANSITECH or a placebo.

After monitoring their bowel movements, colonic transit time (CTT), and bloating, we found that TRANSITECH significantly increased their bowel movements and improved transit times without causing discomfort.

Impressively, these benefits continued even after participants stopped using the supplement.

Saccharomyces boulardii improves constipation
We examined how Saccharomyces boulardii, a probiotic, can help patients experiencing constipation and other symptoms of dysbiosis. Over a two-year period, 209 patients were treated; those given this probiotic showed significant improvements.

Most reported a reduction in stool frequency and alleviation of discomfort, such as flatulence and abdominal pain. In fact, 92.9% of the 141 patients in the main treatment group experienced a noticeable improvement after the treatment course.

Overall, the findings suggest that Saccharomyces boulardii can effectively enhance intestinal health in individuals affected by gastrointestinal disorders, including constipation.

Saccharomyces boulardii aids constipation relief
We examined the effectiveness of Saccharomyces boulardii as an add-on therapy for treating Helicobacter pylori and its impact on constipation.

Our analysis included 18 trials with over 3,500 patients. The results showed that S. boulardii not only helped boost H. pylori eradication rates but also reduced the incidence of constipation.

Overall, S. boulardii appears beneficial as it increases treatment success while decreasing side effects, making it a promising option for those undergoing H. pylori therapy.

Saccharomyces boulardii lacks significant benefit
We explored the effectiveness of Saccharomyces boulardii in treating childhood functional constipation in a trial involving 187 children. These kids were divided into three groups: lactulose monotherapy, combination therapy, and Saccharomyces boulardii monotherapy.

By week 12, the success rates for bowel movements were significantly higher in the lactulose and combination groups compared to the monotherapy group. However, we found that Saccharomyces boulardii's effectiveness did not exceed that of lactulose alone, as it had a higher rate of required medication changes.

Overall, the findings suggest that probiotics like Saccharomyces boulardii may not be the primary recommended treatment for this condition.
