Curcumin nanoparticles show promiseAnti-Inflammatory Effects of Curcumin-Based Nanoparticles Containing α-Linolenic Acid in a Model of Psoriasis In Vitro.
Includes linolenic acid complicating effects
We investigated how Curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, may help manage psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin condition. Our research focused on the effects of Curcumin-based nanoparticles combined with alpha-linolenic acid (a type of omega-3 fatty acid) in an in vitro model. This model included macrophages and keratinocytes, allowing us to simulate the inflammatory responses typical of psoriasis.
In our experiments, we found that these nanoparticles significantly reduced the expression of key inflammatory proteins in macrophages and improved the health of keratinocytes. Specifically, we saw a notable decrease in the cytokines IL-23, IL-8, and IL-6, which are often elevated in psoriasis. In keratinocytes, the treatment decreased cell death and repressed markers of ferroptosis, a recently identified process involved in psoriasis.
These promising results suggest that Curcumin-based nanoparticles could serve as a new strategy in treating psoriasis. However, more research is needed to explore their effectiveness in real-world applications before they can be recommended as a topical treatment.

Curcumin hydrogel aids psoriasis treatmentCurcumin-Based Ionic Liquid Hydrogel for Topical Transdermal Delivery of Curcumin To Improve Its Therapeutic Effect on the Psoriasis Mouse Model.
Combination treatment limits turmeric assessment
We investigated how a specially formulated curcumin-based ionic liquid hydrogel, designed to deliver therapeutic compounds for psoriasis, affects skin health. The study employed a psoriasis model induced by imiquimod to observe the effects of the hydrogel on skin lesions in mice.
Our findings showed that the local application of this hydrogel could lead to significant improvements in skin conditions. We noted a marked reduction in inflammatory factors and key proteins associated with skin health, such as matrix metalloproteinase 8 and collagen-I.
Additionally, treatment with the hydrogel resulted in lower levels of certain proteins related to iron metabolism, indicating further benefits. The hydrogel also appeared to positively influence gut bacteria profiles in the affected mice, suggesting a broader impact on their overall health.
Overall, this curcumin-infused hydrogel emerges as a promising multifunctional option for addressing psoriasis, providing a nonirritating and effective transdermal treatment.

We explored the potential of curcumin, derived from turmeric, as a natural remedy for psoriasis and examined how combining it with tea tree oil can enhance its effectiveness. Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that leads to distressing symptoms like inflamed, scaly patches on the skin, and the search for effective treatments is ongoing.
Our approach involved creating a bi-phasic emulgel combining curcumin and tea tree oil to deliver these natural compounds effectively. We discovered that our emulgel formulation had a higher drug content and better spreadability compared to a standard gel formulation.
The emulgel not only released more of its active ingredients but also demonstrated superior performance in healing psoriasis symptoms in biological testing. The results suggest that the synergy between curcumin and tea tree oil offers a promising new treatment avenue for those suffering from psoriasis, showcasing a natural alternative to conventional medications.

We investigated how curcumin—a compound found in turmeric—impacts psoriasis-like dermatitis in mice. Sixteen mice were divided into four groups to observe varying effects of curcumin compared to a control group. The mice in the model and curcumin groups received a topical treatment of 5% imiquimod daily for six days, a method used to induce skin lesions similar to psoriasis.
Throughout the study, we applied different dosages of curcumin orally while some mice received saline. Our findings showed that curcumin significantly alleviated the symptoms induced by imiquimod. We specifically measured proteins and genetic markers related to inflammation, like TNF-α and IL-6, and noted that curcumin effectively reduced their levels in the skin tissues.
Additionally, the study highlighted that curcumin interfered with the activation of the STAT3 signaling pathway, which is often implicated in psoriasis development. This suggests a pathway where curcumin could contribute to healing from psoriasis-like conditions. Overall, our results indicate that curcumin is not only beneficial but may serve as a therapeutic candidate due to its influence on crucial inflammatory markers involved in psoriasis.

We investigated the potential benefits of curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, for treating psoriasis using a well-structured study on mice. By administering curcumin daily at a dose of 100 mg/kg, we observed significant improvements in psoriasis-like symptoms, such as reduced skin lesions and lower scores on severity measures.
Our findings showed that curcumin effectively decreased pro-inflammatory substances like IL-6, IL-17A, and TNF-α while promoting the production of the anti-inflammatory IL-10. Importantly, this study also explored how curcumin affects gut health, revealing it positively influences specific gut bacteria linked to inflammation.
In summary, we found that curcumin can alleviate psoriasis symptoms by modulating inflammatory responses and possibly enhancing gut microbiota. This positions turmeric as a promising natural option for psoriasis management worth considering for future treatments.
