L-theanine shows potential antidepressant effects
We examined how L-theanine, a compound found in green tea, influences depressive behaviors in a rat model. Using specific behavioral tests, such as the open-field and forced swim tests, we observed that L-theanine improved depressive-like behaviors.

Our findings indicated that it boosted levels of key neurotransmitters—serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine—in certain brain regions. This suggests that L-theanine could have potential antidepressant effects, possibly by interacting with these neurotransmitters in brain areas associated with mood regulation.

We explored the effects of l-theanine, a natural amino acid found in green tea, on patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) in an 8-week open-label study. We involved 20 participants who took 250 mg of l-theanine daily in addition to their regular medication.

Our findings indicated a significant reduction in depression and anxiety symptoms, as well as improved sleep quality and cognitive functions. However, it's important to note that because this study wasn't placebo-controlled, further research is needed to confirm these promising effects.

We investigated the effects of l-theanine added to sertraline in treating major depressive disorder (MDD). In a six-week, double-blind trial, participants took either l-theanine or a placebo alongside their medication. Results showed that those receiving l-theanine experienced a greater reduction in depression symptoms and higher remission rates compared to the placebo group. Though the study had a small sample size, the findings suggest l-theanine may be a promising adjunct therapy for improving treatment outcomes in MDD. More extensive research is needed for confirmation.

This supplement is fantastic. I combine it with L-tyrosine, and the benefits are remarkable. It surpasses any prescription medication I've ever used for depression. The supplement is easy to swallow, tasteless, and of high quality. I find that I have more energy during the day, primarily because my mood has significantly improved.

Non-addictive supplement
L-theanine, a natural amino acid similar to glutamine, has a calming effect, boosts brain activity, improves cognitive functions, alleviates depression, and enhances mood. It's particularly effective when combined with caffeine. If you struggle to motivate yourself and wish to be less anxious, I switch between CoQ10 and L-theanine; both have similar effects and are not addictive.
