We explored how bright light therapy (BLT) can influence ADHD symptoms, especially in individuals with sleep-wake rhythm delays. The study involved participants undergoing standard treatments along with two weeks of morning BLT, which successfully advanced melatonin release and sleep timing.

As a result, we observed a significant reduction in ADHD symptoms, particularly in hyperactivity and impulsivity. Although the therapy did not change sleep quality significantly, it highlighted potential as a complementary approach to traditional ADHD treatments.

This study marks an encouraging step in finding effective alternatives for managing ADHD symptoms.

Melatonin improves ADHD symptoms temporarily
We investigated how melatonin influences symptoms of ADHD in adults with delayed sleep phase syndrome. In a randomized trial with 51 participants, we provided either melatonin, bright light therapy, or a placebo for three weeks.

At the end of the treatment, we found that melatonin significantly advanced participants' circadian rhythms and reduced ADHD symptoms by 14%. Unfortunately, these benefits were temporary, as both symptoms and sleep patterns reverted to baseline two weeks after stopping treatment.

Overall, melatonin could be a valuable tool for adults struggling with ADHD linked to sleep issues.

Melatonin may help ADHD sleep issues
We explored the connection between ADHD and sleep disturbances, focusing on the role of melatonin. Our systematic review analyzed 62 studies involving over 4,400 individuals with ADHD.

We observed that people with ADHD often experience a shift in their circadian rhythms, leaning towards later sleep and wake times. This misalignment possibly contributes to their sleep troubles.

While our findings suggest that melatonin could help address these sleep issues linked to ADHD, it's important to note that more research is needed to fully understand its effectiveness and explore other potential therapies.

We explored the long-term safety and efficacy of a pediatric melatonin treatment aimed at improving sleep for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including those with ADHD. In this study, kids on melatonin slept significantly longer and fell asleep faster than those who received a placebo.

Following a year of treatment, 76% of participants showed improved sleep patterns, along with overall better well-being for caregivers. While fatigue and mood swings were noted as side effects, the treatment proved to be mostly safe and beneficial.

This reinforces the role of melatonin in helping manage sleep issues related to ADHD and related disorders.

We evaluated how prolonged-release melatonin minitablets (PedPRM) help children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with or without ADHD, who struggle with sleep. Over 13 weeks, 125 participants were given either PedPRM or a placebo in a double-blind trial.

We found that those taking PedPRM enjoyed longer sleep—averaging 57.5 minutes more per night—compared to just 9.14 minutes for the placebo group. Additionally, sleep latency, or the time taken to fall asleep, improved significantly. While PedPRM was generally safe, some users experienced increased drowsiness.

We examined the potential of melatonin to help manage sleep issues in ADHD and other psychiatric disorders. Although melatonin shows promise in improving sleep quality, sleep onset time, and efficiency, especially in ADHD, well-structured trials remain scarce.

The research suggests that melatonin might be beneficial for correcting sleep and circadian patterns disturbed by ADHD. However, it’s important to note that more studies are needed to solidify these findings and identify optimal dosages and timing for administration.

Works remarkably well. I began using these for my son who has ADHD, as he struggled to fall asleep and achieve restful sleep, exacerbating his ADHD symptoms during the day. After starting at 1mg and gradually increasing to 3mg upon the paediatrician's advice, he now sleeps much better, often within 30 minutes. I have ordered many times through Iherb, and the quality is consistently excellent, well packaged, and arrives rapidly. I 100% recommend.

Improved sleep quality
Works better than expected. My daughter has ADHD and takes stimulants to help her concentrate; however, they affected her sleep. We maintain healthy sleeping habits, so the melatonin is just to trigger sleep. This is not a sleeping tablet; it wouldn't help if I just gave it to her while she watched TV. I administer it in bed, read a story or chat softly in the dark, and rub her back until she sleeps. It previously took over 45 minutes for her to fall asleep, but with melatonin, it’s usually within 15 minutes if she is well settled beforehand. She now stays asleep through the night and wakes later, benefiting her focus and mood. I'll definitely continue purchasing this!

Effective sleep aid
My 9-year-old, who is very active with ADHD, found it difficult to fall asleep, even when tired. After taking one tablet, 30-60 minutes before bedtime, he lay down calmly and fell asleep quickly. He doesn’t wake at night and wakes up refreshed! The product quality is good, it's tasty, and the tablet size is manageable. The child even reminds me to take it before bed. I am quite pleased!

Quality sleep provided
My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. We've made many changes to routine and diet, and decided to trial medication. The meds are having a positive effect, but as he has always struggled to sleep, I wanted something to help at bedtime. He loves the flavour, and while we don't use them daily, he often requests one because they are so lovely. They definitely assist him in falling asleep and ensure he gets quality rest. I highly recommend!

Quick sleep aid
Wow, is all I can say. My lovely 4-year-old son with ADHD used to tell me at 8pm that he was bored, often kicking and screaming. It was a nightmare getting him to sleep, and I sometimes resorted to giving him an iPad. These chewable tablets are fantastic. I give them to him at 7.30pm, and within 30 to 45 minutes, he’s out cold. I’ve ordered two more bottles as I don’t want to run out!
