Federica Sbrocca received a "Laurea cum laude" degree in Biological Sciences from Università Statale di Milano, with a thesis in Human Genetics. Afterwards, she worked at the Molecular Genetics Laboratory of Istituti Clinici di Perfezionamento, Milan, focusing on the molecular analysis of Thalassemic Syndromes and Hereditary Haemoglobinopathies.
