Probiotics improve constipation symptoms
We conducted a randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 92 children aged 4 to 12 with functional constipation. Over four weeks, we provided one group with a probiotic chewable tablet containing specific strains and compared their experiences to a placebo group.

The findings were promising; the probiotic group reported a significant improvement in stool frequency and a decrease in hard defecation. Specifically, hard stools decreased from 43% to 14%, while normal defecation increased from 56% to 80%. This study highlights the potential of probiotics as a valuable option for managing constipation in children.

Li01 shows promise for constipation relief
We explored the effects of Ligilactobacillus salivarius Li01 in a mouse model of constipation induced by loperamide. The findings show that Li01 can significantly improve symptoms of constipation by enhancing fecal water content and quantity, as well as promoting gut motility.

Additionally, Li01 seems to protect intestinal barrier structures and influence gut microbiota composition. By impacting the 5-HT signaling pathway, Li01 holds promise as a potential treatment for constipation. However, further research is necessary to fully understand its effects and applications.

Bifidobacterium’s health benefits in constipation
We explored the potential of various Bifidobacterium strains to alleviate constipation in mice caused by loperamide hydrochloride. Throughout 17 days of treatment, we administered six different strains and assessed their effects on gastrointestinal health.

Notably, only one strain showed significant benefits in improving stool consistency and enhancing gut function. This strain not only helped restore bile and fatty acid levels but also positively altered the gut microbiota of constipated mice. Our findings indicate that Bifidobacterium can be effective in managing constipation through its unique physiological capabilities.

Cultured milk drink relieves constipation
We explored the impact of a cultured milk drink containing Lactobacillus acidophilus on constipation symptoms in adults with constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C). Over 30 days, 77 participants drank this yogurt-like beverage daily.

Post-treatment, a staggering 97.4% of participants reported improvement in their symptoms, including decreased intestinal transit time and lower fecal pH. Notably, the levels of inflammatory cytokines also dropped significantly, suggesting potential benefits of this treatment for IBS-C patients.

We evaluated how lactobacillus acidophilus, both alone and in a mix with other bacteria, might relieve constipation caused by loperamide in rats. Over 14 days, we noticed that the groups receiving probiotics had significantly heavier and wetter stools compared to control animals.

Notably, the CKDBP group, a blend of multiple bacteria, showed the greatest improvement in intestinal transit. Measures like mucosal length and mucus secretion were also significantly enhanced in all probiotic-treated groups, highlighting their potential to alleviate constipation symptoms effectively.

Relieved constipation

I'm in my late 30s and have struggled with constipation for over 20 years. Since taking this supplement, my daily routine has improved significantly. I take one pill before bed, and while results may vary by individual, this has been the best solution for my constipation.
We explored the effects of two different probiotic formulations designed to tackle functional constipation in adults. Participants took an oral sachet daily for 30 days in a randomized, double-blind trial.

Both probiotic mixes improved constipation symptoms by increasing the frequency of bowel movements and enhancing stool quality. However, no significant differences were found among the treatment groups. Overall, the probiotics were safe, with only one report of abdominal pain in a participant.
We studied the effects of multistrain probiotics on constipation in elderly nursing home residents. Sixty participants took either a specific probiotic mixture or a placebo over 12 weeks in a double-blind setup.

While there was a slight but not statistically significant increase in stool frequency overall, those receiving probiotics showed a notable increase in stool frequency post-day 71 when laxative use was considered.

Overall, the probiotics were well tolerated and deemed safe for treating functional constipation in this population.
We aimed to explore how a specific probiotic mixture could help patients with uncomplicated diverticular disease of the colon, particularly those dealing with constipation-related abdominal pain.

In our study involving 46 patients, we found that after six months, 68% remained symptom-free, with over 78% rating the treatment as effective. This suggests that the symbiotic mixture, which included Lactobacillus acidophilus, can be beneficial in reducing constipation issues related to this condition.

Overall, it appears probiotics may play a positive role in managing constipation symptoms, offering a promising avenue for those affected.
