Finally, a worthy potassium supplement!
So I have spent a few years searching for a good potassium supplement. In America, they come in low doses because potassium is very potent to the cardiovascular system. Many supplements have different forms such as "oxide" or "citrate" or "orotate" or "gluconate". Depending on the reason you need to take the supplement, you might need to consider a different compound of the supplement. Potassium citrate is considered to be the most absorbable form of potassium supplement. I am often cautious when buying supplements online. You can get sub-par supplements that could come from another country and may not be what they are being sold as. I researched this company prior to buying and I found on several whole food and clean eating web sites that this brand often made it onto a list of, for example, "50 most ethical supplement companies." I used to get really bad leg cramps and adding the potassium helped a little. For some reason, adding zinc orotate along with the potassium really helped. I have a heart condition and this specific potassium supplement does not bother the condition. I would recommend speaking with your doctor and being informed from multiple, reputable sources before beginning a supplement regiment. If you start taking potassium, begin with one dose each day for a few days to see how it effects you. You do not want to start with a high doese and have it adversely effect your heart or other systems in your body. If you have kidney problems, definitely talk to your doctor or specialist before beginning potassium supplements. Normally it can take about two weeks for you to be able to notice any differences the supplement may make. If you tolerate one pill well and you believe you need a higher dose, take one pill twice a day. I currently take 2 pills twice daily. 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Potassium can be a mild diuretic so I avoid taking a dose in the evening. I added the extra doses after I began an intense exercise program and my muscles were crampy and I felt they needed a little more potassium to help them recover. I have not noticed a benefit when I have previously tried potassium. I believe this particular potassium capsule contains 3% of the daily value of potassium, so you should still try to get most of your potassium in your diet. I have food allergies (bananas and lots of other fruits) so the potassium supplement does help me get the nutrition I can't get from my diet. With THIS brand of potassium, the NOW Potassium Citrate, I have noticed less muscle cramps and some other improvements in my over all health. This will most likely be the potassium supplement I will be loyal to for a long time. So yes, I do love this supplement and give it 5 stars. I have not found any other potassium supplement that I continued to take because it did not feel beneficial. This one makes a difference for me. This supplement is a capsule. It is medium sized. The picture is of the supplement next to a dime in my hand for size comparison. I know many people are concerned with how big supplements are. This supplement is not "small" per se, and is larger than many postassium gluconate supplements with the same mcg dose. I think the effectiveness of potassium citrate compared to potassium gluconate is a good trade off. I would rather take a pill that is much more effective and a little larger than to take a pill that is smaller and less effective
