BLa80 shows promise for constipation
We explored the impact of Bifidobacterium lactis BLa80 on constipation using mice that were induced with functional constipation through loperamide treatment. In our study, we compared BLa80 to a blank group and a positive control.

The results indicated that BLa80 improved intestinal movement, increased fecal moisture, and balanced gut bacteria. It also helped regulate important gut hormones. Overall, BLa80 shows promise as a potential new option for relieving constipation in functional foods.

Bifidobacterium lactis alleviates constipation
We investigated the effects of Bifidobacterium lactis subsp. TG11 on loperamide-induced constipation in mice. The mice were grouped into control and treatment categories, receiving different doses of the probiotic.

After treatment, those receiving TG11 showed improved intestinal motility and maintained better fecal water content. Notably, the probiotic also positively affected gut microbiota, increasing beneficial bacteria and promoting short-chain fatty acid production.

Overall, Bifidobacterium lactis TG11 appears effective in alleviating constipation, potentially by enhancing gut health.

We evaluated the impact of Bifidobacterium longum BB536 on chronic constipation in elderly individuals through a randomized, double-blind trial in Japan, involving 80 participants.

Although the primary outcomes showed no significant improvement, we did observe noteworthy enhancements in bowel movements among those taking the probiotics compared to the placebo group.

This suggests that while not a complete solution, B. longum BB536 may still provide safe and beneficial effects for older adults struggling with constipation.

Bifidobacterium’s health benefits in constipation
We explored the potential of various Bifidobacterium strains to alleviate constipation in mice caused by loperamide hydrochloride. Throughout 17 days of treatment, we administered six different strains and assessed their effects on gastrointestinal health.

Notably, only one strain showed significant benefits in improving stool consistency and enhancing gut function. This strain not only helped restore bile and fatty acid levels but also positively altered the gut microbiota of constipated mice. Our findings indicate that Bifidobacterium can be effective in managing constipation through its unique physiological capabilities.

Bifidobacterium bifidum aids constipation
Our research explored the potential benefits of the probiotic Bifidobacterium bifidum G9-1 in treating constipation caused by loperamide. We studied its effects on rats with constipation, observing improvements in several symptoms such as the number of feces produced and the moisture content in feces.

Furthermore, we found that BBG9-1 helped restore a healthy gut microbiome, leading to better organic acid levels and neurotransmitter balance. These changes could enhance gut movement and help alleviate constipation. Overall, BBG9-1 shows promise as a treatment option for constipation linked to gut dysbiosis.

Interspecies effects on constipation
We examined how different types of bifidobacteria affect constipation in mice. In this study, BALB/c mice received various strains, including B. bifidum, for eight days.

We found that B. bifidum, along with B. longum and B. infantis, showed significant effectiveness in relieving constipation. These strains worked by boosting beneficial bacteria and increasing short-chain fatty acids, especially acetic acid.

On the other hand, some strains were less effective or had no impact at all. Overall, these findings highlight that not all bifidobacteria are equally efficient in tackling constipation.

B. lactis GCL2505 aids constipation relief
We investigated the impact of Bifidobacterium lactis GCL2505 on constipation by conducting two experiments. In the first trial, healthy participants saw a notable increase in beneficial intestinal bifidobacteria after ingesting B. lactis GCL2505.

In our second experiment with constipated volunteers, those taking B. lactis GCL2505 experienced significant improvements in both their levels of bifidobacteria and the frequency of bowel movements over eight weeks.

Overall, this probiotic seems to enhance gut health and may effectively relieve constipation, unlike other bacterial options that do not proliferate in the intestine.

Probiotics show potential for constipation
We explored the effectiveness of a probiotic mixture for treating constipation among pregnant women. Over four weeks, women with functional constipation took Ecologic®Relief daily.

We observed a notable increase in defecation frequency from 3.1 times to 6.7 times per week. Participants also reported significant improvements in sensations related to incomplete evacuation, abdominal pain, and straining during defecation.

While the results are promising, a randomized placebo-controlled trial is necessary for further confirmation. Importantly, no side effects were reported.

Bifidobacterium bifidum aids constipation relief
We explored the effects of probiotic Bifidobacterium bifidum G9-1 on gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes taking metformin. Over a 10-week period, 40 participants experienced significant reductions in symptoms like constipation and diarrhea.

The results showed notable improvements in the gastrointestinal symptom scores, particularly for constipation, without affecting blood sugar levels. This suggests that Bifidobacterium bifidum could be a promising option for alleviating gut issues in this demographic.
9
Bifidobacterium lactis effective for constipation
We assessed how Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BLa80 could help adults struggling with chronic constipation. In a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 46 participants, we compared the effects of the probiotic against a placebo over 12 weeks.

Our findings revealed that those taking the probiotic experienced a significant improvement in stool consistency and a reduction in constipation symptoms. By weeks 8 and 12, their stool types shifted towards more normal classifications on the Bristol scale, while constipation rates increased in the placebo group.

This highlights the potential of Bifidobacterium lactis as a helpful solution for managing constipation.
7
Probiotics may help reduce constipation
We examined the potential of probiotics, particularly bifidobacterium lactis, in alleviating chronic constipation symptoms. Through a systematic review and analysis of randomized controlled trials, we found that certain probiotics might enhance treatment responses and stool frequency. However, the evidence for the effectiveness of synbiotics remains insufficient.

It's important to note that results vary widely among studies, and there's a significant risk of bias, so we should interpret these findings carefully.
4
Probiotics effective for constipation relief
We examined multiple randomized controlled trials to understand how probiotics, especially Bifidobacterium longum, affect constipation in adults.

Our findings revealed that while multispecies probiotics significantly improved bowel function, the effects of Bifidobacterium longum alone were not meaningful. In fact, this specific strain did not show a significant increase in bowel movements, contrasting with the notable benefits seen with multispecies formulations.

Essentially, while probiotics can offer relief from constipation, relying solely on Bifidobacterium longum may not deliver the desired results.
